Here is a video of some good shoulder exercises I developed for myself. They have helped with my shoulder rehab. My athletes at the training center have used them, as have my gymnasts at trampoline and tumbling. They are small range of motion acceleration/deceleration exercises that will warm up, activate and strengthen your rotator cuff muscles and the bigger shoulder muscles as well. I recommend them for any sport in which shoulder stability and strength is important, e.g. gymnastics, golf, swimming, track and field, diving etc.
I do them as one of my exercise sets in my morning training program. They only take about 5 to 10 minutes and I feel stronger for the rest of the day. They really wake your shoulders up! You can also do them in your warmup before workout.
There are eight exercises in this video: Marching, Flying, Superman, Sleep Walking, Front Diagonal, Behind Back, Ski Pole and I Surrender. I do them with my hands in three positions (see the video for an explanation). I switch between vibration and small circles and do about 6 to 10 of each type. You must keep good posture and a tight core while you do them. Enjoy!
